About
the Basic and Clait Courses
The popular
Computer Literacy and Information Technology (CLAIT) scheme gives
you a practical and up-to-date introduction to the many uses of
computers in business and industry today.
The
20 Week Course
This is an ideal
training course for those people who have never used a computer
before, or who have never used Microsoft Office, incorporating Word,
Excel and Access. The first 10 weeks commences on a training course
entitled Basic Computing. This is a very basic introduction to computers,
which then prepares you to be able to go on to the RSA CLAIT Stage
1 for the remaining 10 weeks. Students will work towards achieving
certification in Basic Computing and RSA Computer Literacy and Information
Technology (Stage 1)
The
10 Week Course
This course
us for those people who have a good working knowledge of at least
one of the applications in Microsoft Office, or use computers regularly
as part of their job. Students will work towards achieving certification
in RSA Computer Literacy and Information Technology (Stage 1).
Course
Details
The
course includes three core modules:
- Word Processing
- Microsoft Word
- Spreadsheets
- Microsoft Excel
- Databases
- Microsoft Access
Students may
also have the opportunity to complete any or all of the following
additional units if time is available, these include Graphical Representation
of Data, Desk Top Publishing and Computer Art.
The course aims
to prepare students by working through the corresponding workbook
with additional assignments for their RSA CLAIT exam whilst under
constant supervision from our fully qualified tutors. The classes
are warm and friendly with a minimum of two tutors per class to
ensure that your individual needs are met.
You will receive
a certificate, which lists the elements of certification detailing
exactly what you have achieved on the CLAIT scheme. If you meet
all the requirements for at least three applications then your certificate
will state that you have passed on Stage 1.
Students will
then have an opportunity to progress onto RSA Integrated Business
Technology Level II (RSA IBT II).
The classes
normally run for 2 hours a week for approximately 10 or 20 weeks
depending upon your current knowledge and the course you decide
to commence upon.
The cost of
the course is a £12.00 registration fee payable on the first
session of attendance, followed by weekly payments of £5.50.
The total cost of the 20-week course is £134.00 and the total
cost of the 10-week course is £67.00.
