INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNET
DURATION
: ½ Day
TARGET
AUDIENCE :
Those with an
elementary knowledge of the operation of micro computers who wish
to learn how to use the Internet effectively for Business purposes.
TEACHING
APPROACH :
A mixture of
lectures; practical "Hands-on" and one-to-one work. Critical
Skills have chosen to allow only a few delegates per course to ensure
individual attention is assured with delegates able to work at a
pace that best suits them. The emphasis is on quality rather than
quantity. Training is adapted to meet the needs of the individual
with all students receiving a comprehensive manual for personal
use following the training and to complement the course.
PRE
REQUISITES
:
Ideally, course
delegates will have working knowledge in a windows environment.
However, as this course is aimed at individuals with little or no
previous knowledge of the Internet this is not essential
COURSE
OBJECTIVES :
By the end of
the course, delegates should be able to :
1. Have an insight and understand the concepts and principles of
the Internet and www (World Wide Web)
2. Understand the naming system used on the Internet
3. Understand the variety of users of the Internet / www
4. Be able to Log-on to the Internet with confidence
5. Be able to create and send mail using electronic mail
6. Be able to manipulate in-coming mail including read, file, delete
etc.
7. Be able to navigate / surf the net using two different browsers,
Netscape and Internet Explorer.
8. Finely tune search skills to make efficient use of Line Time.
9. Be able to create and use bookmarks for returning to chosen sites.
10. Use cut, copy, paste and send facility to edit information.
11. Understand and use the benefits of the Internet as an Essential
Business Tool as we move towards the Millennium.
