Internet Technologies Stage 1 is a qualification designed
to assess the student's ability to use the Internet for communication,
information gathering and publishing, within a vocational context.
The course is
designed to give a broad, practical understanding of the organisation
of communication systems such as the Internet, by using the software
tools specially designed to access these facilities. The course
will also prepare students to take advantage of text editing, appearance
and layout possibilities of hypertext Mark-Up Language (HTML) as
used in graphical user interfaces such as the World Wide Web (WWW).
Students will also gain an appreciation of the importance of "NETiquette"
and security issues when accessing a global information system of
this nature.
The course provides
a broad basis for those intending to go on to specialised or more
advanced studies.
