INTRODUCTION TO MICROSOFT PROJECT 98

COURSE AIMS :

The course provides guidance on how to plan and schedule projects using Microsoft Project 98 for Windows. Project management is generally defined as the planning and managing of tasks and resources to achieve a specific result.

TARGET AUDIENCE :

Intending, new or recent users of Microsoft Project 98 for Windows 95/98 wishing to develop their understanding and capabilities of this package.

TEACHING APPROACH :

The teaching approach contains a mix of lectures & practical work. The teaching is by interactive presentation using a PC system unit for demonstrations, coupled with frequent hands-on exercises throughout the course.

PRE REQUISITES :

Those with a knowledge of personal computers fundamentals. No previous experience of using Microsoft Project 98 is required.

4. Create a project schedule
5. Save a Project
6. Outline a task list
7. Link Tasks in a Finish-to-Start and a Finish-to-Finish relationship

9. Add lag time and lead time between tasks
10. Create a PERT Chart
11. Allocate resources to tasks
12. Revise resource information
13. Contour a resource assignment
14. Revise the project calendar
15. Create new calendars for resources
16. Work with cost rate tables
17. Identify the critical path of a project
18. Identify slack time in a project schedule
19. Assign a constraint to a task
20. Define a fixed-duration task
21. Link a project to a World Wide Web page
22. Save a project in HTML format
