INTRODUCTION
TO WORD FOR WINDOWS
DURATION : Half a day
TARGET
AUDIENCE : Those with an elementary knowledge of the
operation of micro computers who wish to learn how to create and
edit simple documents using Word for Windows.
This is a course
with a high level of practical content, aimed at those people who
have not used word for windows before. It caters for delegates with
widely differing experience and skill levels.
TEACHING
APPROACH : The teaching approach contains a mix of lectures,
practical and one to one work, varying according to the number of
people attending. For the most part delegates are able to work at
a pace which best suits them with emphasis being placed upon quality
rather than quantity.
PRE
REQUISITES : Those with an elementary knowledge of the
operation of micro computers. No previous experience with Word for
Windows is necessary although some experience with Microsoft Windows
is an advantage, though not essential.
COURSE
OBJECTIVES
: By the end of the course, delegates should be able to :
1. Access Word
for Windows from Program Manager
2. Create, save and print error-free documents
3. Close and retrieve pre-saved documents
4. Edit documents using the systems proofing tools.
5. Format text and paragraphs
6. Insert hard page breaks into the document
7. Automatically number the document
8. Cut, copy and paste from one document to another
9. Use the spellcheck and thesaurus tools
10. Use the find and replace option in Word
11. Maximise and minimise the word screen
12. Know the benefits of <Alt> and <Tab>
13. Move between documents via the window option
14. Identify the status bar, menu bar, standard toolbar and formatting
toolbar
15. Change margins using the ruler and format paragraph option
16. Move files from a:\ drive to c:\ drive and vice versa
17. Create a directory in which to save files
18. Close down the software application correctly

FOR WINDOWS - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
DURATION
: Half a day

AUDIENCE
: Those with an elementary knowledge of the operation of micro computers
who wish to learn more in-depth techniques using Word for Windows.
This is a course
with a high level of practical content, aimed at those people who
have used word for windows before. It caters for delegates with
widely differing experience and skill levels.

one to one work, varying according to the number of people attending.
For the most part delegates are able to work at a pace which best

PRE
REQUISITES : Ideally, course delegates will have attended
introduction to Word for Windows or have previous knowledge of the
concepts of Word Basic and Microsoft Windows.

DURATION : Half day
TARGET
AUDIENCE
: Those with a well developed level of knowledge in the operation
of micro computers who wish to learn how to create more advanced
and complicated documents using Word for Windows.
This is a course
with a high level of practical content, aimed at those people who
have used word for windows before. It caters for delegates with
widely differing experience and skill levels.

: The teaching approach contains a mix of lectures, practical and
one to one work, varying according to the number of people attending.
For the most part delegates are able to work at a pace which best
suits them with emphasis being placed upon quality rather than quantity.

REQUISITES
: Those with a good knowledge of the operation of micro computers.
Previous experience with Word for Windows is essential.

2. Sort records in a mail merge data file
3. Select records from a merge data file, Create selective merge
4. Use a mail merge data file to produce labels
5. Understand how data source can come from other applications
6. Integrate files from other Microsoft Applications and producing
a report into Microsoft Word.
7. Incorporate a table of contents and index within documents
8. Create and use bookmarks in a word document
9. Understand the benefits of using Annotations
10. Learn how to automate repeated tasks using macros instead of
manually performing a series of time consuming repetitive actions
to accomplish a task.
11. Learn how to assign the macros to the toolbar, shortcut or menu
item.
